BROMSGROVE construction group Weaver PLC has reported its best year on record with an annual turnover of £43m to the end of March 2007, £3m ahead of target and £13m ahead of the previous year.
Alan Adamson, joint managing director, said the increased income is due to a high percentage of repeat business, together with a good spread of new clients.
"When analysing the figures, more than 60 per cent of the total is attributable to customers who are returning to us again and again as a result of strengthening mutually beneficial relationships," he said.
"We are also fortunate to have a healthy mix of sectors represented in our portfolio, including the public sector, particularly education and healthcare, plus retail, niche residential, commercial and industrial."
Projects from regular clients over the last 12 months include a £3.7m warehouse for Stoford Developments, education contracts worth £5.6m, £2m of refurbishment and build projects for motorway service provider Moto, a £3m refurbishment project for Mercedes-Benz HighPerformanceEngines Ltd and more than £6m in residential developments for Pegasus Retirement Homes and Guildcare (Campden) Ltd.
To service current and forecast levels of business, Weaver has recruited nine new members of staff across key company departments, including contracts management, site management, design co-ordination, estimating, surveying, buying and administration.
Peter Lightfoot, joint managing director, said: "Like any company, finding and retaining good quality people with the right skills and, importantly, a can-do attitude is paramount for the future prosperity of our business. We are fortunate that we have a good reputation within the industry for looking after our staff so turnover is low. Growth in the last twelve months and projected projects for the new financial year have led to this latest raft of recruits, who will add enormously to our skills base."
