THE Bromsgrove-based and critically acclaimed theatre company, MadCap Theatre Productions will making its Worcester debut with an open-air performance of the classic Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The venue will be the garden of Greyfriars House in Worcester this Saturday August 1, at 7pm.

Show spokesman, Emma Leigh said: "A Midsummer Night’s Dream follows the tale of four lovers and a group of wanna-be actors who spend a night in the woods at the mercy of two warring fairies and their mischievous followers.

"The play is over 400 years old and remains as funny as it ever was, largely due to Puck, a playful sprite who makes some colossal mistakes, and an infamous ass-headed man."

MadCap Theatre Productions have an impressive reputation of performing understandable, accessible and fun Shakespeare, while remaining true to the original script.

Combining music, dance, stage combat and physicality, MadCaps' stated aim is "to bring the work of the Bard to life".

Emma added: "MadCap Theatre Productions was established in 2012 to bring historical and classical shows to contemporary audiences. MadCap regularly perform at both outdoor and indoor venues across midlands and further afield and we pride ourselves on high energy, entertaining and understandable shows.

"This year, we decided that we would love to bring our show to Worcester city centre, being the city that is closest to our Bromsgrove base and found an absolute gem of a venue in the Greyfriars Gardens."

Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions, £32 family) and available from madcaptheatreproductions.co.uk.

Audience members are encouraged to bring picnics and seating, or enjoy refreshments from the on-site café.
