THE Government is continuing to resist calls for troops to be sent to Calais in a bid to prevent migrants storming the Channel Tunnel.

Hundreds of people are making nightly attempts to get to Britain via the tunnel which is seen as a less secure route than ferry crossings.

Speaking during a visit to Vietnam David Cameron said we need to protect UK borders by working “hand in glove” with French authorities against a “swarm” of migrants.

University tuition fees could hit £10,000 per year by 2020 according to a new report.

The Independent Commission on Fees is warning the Government should be wary of increases after a survey revealed 58 per cent of UK sixth form students are concerned about repaying loans after they graduate.

Students have to start repaying fees when they earn a salary of more than £21,000 and new rules will, from 2017/18, allow top universities to increase fees in line with inflation.

Independent Commission on Fees chairman, Will Hutton, said: "Under the current system, nearly three-quarters of students will fail to clear their student loans before they are written off after 30 years, and the large majority will still be paying off their loans well into their 40s.”
