Droitwich is soon to get its own daily newspaper.

THE Worcester News, which already circulates in the town, will be replaced by a special Droitwich edition as of Thursday, September 10.

The DROITWICH NEWS will have up to eight pages each day dedicated to providing local news, sport, opinion and information services for people living in the town or surrounding area.

News of the new paper has been welcomed by local organisations and civic leaders and the new paper is looking for local contributors to ensure that it reflects what is going on in the town and what local people are interested in.

The launch coincides with the town’s annual Salt Festival which attracts over 10,000 visitors each year. Special coverage is planned.

There will be shopping vouchers to be won in a special launch competition, arranged in conjunction with Waitrose and Morrisons supermarkets.

Editor Peter John said staff were thrilled to be launching a new paper and looking forward to the challenge of providing a much improved local service for readers.

“Droitwich is about a quarter of the size of Worcester and already has a sizeable core of Worcester News readers. Now we think we can offer them an even better local paper and attract new readers as well,’ he said.
