GOLFERS have again raised thousands through a popular golf day held in Blackwell.

The golf day, held at Blackwell Golf Club, in Agmore Road, at the end of August, was the 15th held and raised £9,000.

The annual event is organised by the Rotary Club of North Worcestershire and more than £50,000 has been raised for local and international charities.

Bromsgrove's MP Sajid Javid dropped by to lend his support towards the good work of the group and thank Blackwell Golf Club for its continual support of the event.

Representatives from the sponsors, organisations and businesses who ensure the event is successful each year, were also thanked.

Money raised this year is being donated to Voluntary Service Overseas, the Worcestershire based Farmers Overseas Action Group, The Bromsgrove Festival and Victim Support in Worcestershire.

The MP, who is also the Business Secretary, said: "The annual golf day is a fantastic local initiative.

"The Rotary Club provides generous support to many people in our community and further afield. I would like to emphasise my thanks to all members of the club for their fantastic organisation, and to all the local people, businesses and organisations who helped make the day.

"This is Bromsgrove at its best.”
