THE Bromsgrove branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research has changed its name to follow the lead of a national charity.

The 60-year-old charity, which was also called Leukaemia Research for a period, has changed its name to Bloodwise.

Following the national charity the town branch is now called Bloodwise Bromsgrove and District.

It has also been announced a milestone of £900,000 has been reached by the charity since it started in 1988, through a variety of fundraisers including fun runs, forget me not walks and bikeathons.

Branch chairman Nicole Harris, a tireless award-winning fundraiser, said that she wanted to reassure the public that although the name had changed the branch would still be organising the same events that have proved popular fundraisers over the years.

Nicole said: "I just want to assure people we are still the same charity with the same aims and even more committed to our cause which is finding a cure into blood cancers.

"We actually do research on 137 different type of blood cancers.

"We have now reached a milestone of £900,000 and we would love to get the million in the 30 years, by 2018."
