BROMSGROVE'S MP says it is encouraging to see unemployment in the town is just one per cent.

The latest unemployment figures for August were released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on Wednesday, September 16.

The figures show 600 people claimed jobseeker's allowance - 1 per cent of the population.

Bromsgrove’s MP Sajid Javid, who is also the Business Secretary, said: "It is encouraging to see that unemployment in Bromsgrove is just 1 per cent, but I am still not content.

"I want to help those people, particularly the young, who remain unemployed to get the skills and opportunities they need to move forwards into stable jobs.

"That’s why I am already planning my next Bromsgrove jobs fair and I am working nationally as the Business Secretary to develop more, high quality apprenticeships and training to help all Bromsgrove residents to have the security they need from a regular pay packet."
