STAFF at the branch of Sainsbury’s Local on Stourbridge Road will be celebrating its first birthday this Friday, with a fundraiser for Primrose Hospice.

The staff will be holding a hog roast on Friday, October 16, with Partridge’s Butchers in Bromsgrove providing hot pork baps for sale to customers, with a percentage of the profits going toward the charity.

The store is supporting Primrose Hospice through 2015 and 2016, after it was nominated as their charity of the year, and 12 members of staff have already taken part in a 5k Rainbow Run to raise money for the charity, with the manager signing himself up for the Birmingham Half Marathon. Two more members of staff are taking on a 10,000ft freefall parachute jump in April of next year, and the store is also holding a number of book and cake sales for Primrose.

Primrose Hospice undertakes a number of different roles, ranging from day hospice sessions and family support, to staff supporting people at the end stages of life who wish to be cared for in their own home, and support for family members.
