YOUNGSTERS from Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch had the chance to be treated like an A-lister when they attended the premiere for a film they have been working on.

Students from the Star Project Theatre School, in Barnt Green, West Acre Middle School in Droitwich and Umbrella Arts in Redditch, joined more than 100 children from across the West Midlands when they came together to walk the red carpet at the MAC Birmingham.

No expense was spared to create the premiere experience as youngsters arrived in a limo, had the chance to walk the red carpet, drink children-friendly champagne, watch their film on a big screen, then attended a party.

Reach For The Stars has been rehearsed during individual class times, and collaborated a selection of devised scenes and script work.

The film tells the story of Albert Armpit a young boy who decides he wants to go to drama class. The story has a strong moral and shows that it is not always about the winning but taking part and working as a team.

The children then came together for a whole days filming at the MAC for the climax of the film and final scenes.

Having never met their fellow performers from other schools they worked like professionals as part of an entire cast, making new friends and most of all had fun filming with each other.

Star Projects owner, Jo Edwards, said: “The aim of the project was to give children the chance to feel like superstars, to give them the confidence to believe that they are capable of doing absolutely anything.

"To bring out their inner talents and to show the next generation that anything is achievable, and to always reach for the stars. The children felt like stars for the day and were filled with a great sense of pride and achievement. It was a childhood memory that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.”
