PARENTS of youngsters at a Bromsgrove first school have been reassured that their children are in no danger from asbestos which is being removed from the building.
It comes after some parents of pupils at Millfields First School, in Swift Close, contacted the Advertiser/ Messenger to voice their concerns over possible dangers from being exposed to the material.
One father, who did now wish to be named, said he and other parents had no idea that work to remove the potentially harmful substance was being carried out, especially in term time.
But a county council spokesman insisted that parents had been informed, as had people living in the vicinity of the school by the headteacher Alison Dowling.
The work to remove the asbestos from beneath windows is being carried out over three weekends and is part of a refurbishment programme at the school, which is more than 30 years old.
A sealed decontamination skip for use by workers carrying out the task is fenced off from the youngsters. The spokesman added that the work conforms to strict health and safety standards.
