LOCAL MP Sajid Javid visited North Bromsgrove High School for a sneak peak of its revamped Sixth Form Centre.

The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills unveiled a plaque to mark the new facilities when he visited on Friday, November 20, ahead of a special evening ceremony to mark the occasion.

Ex-pupils were the guests of honour at the event and the first to view the new facilities, which have been relocated at the heart of the school.

Mr Javid took time to talk to head teacher, David Hadley-Pryce and sixth formers, head boy, Noah Dixon, and deputy head girl, Emmeline Trenchard-Mole, about how the new facilities and upgraded technology were enhancing and supporting their A level studies.

Sarah Figg, head of sixth form, said: “We are delighted Mr Javid could join us today to see our vibrant and successful sixth form in action.

“Our new refurbishments were designed to further enrich the experience of the growing number of sixth formers here.”

Mr Javid, who was very supportive of the new facilities, added: “After visiting the skills show in Birmingham, I saw the broad range of skills needed for the future.

“I am enthused to see study skills for A level students being provided and supported in such a positive way.”

The new facilities feature three large, well-resourced study rooms and a new dry art area for students to work and display their endeavours. Alongside the dedicated sixth form areas are the main school library, access to state-of-the-art ICT suites and an extensive Apple Mac suite.
