A PARENT from My First Friends Day Nursery, in Rubery, who has a rare form of cancer, has gone to great lengths to raise money for a worthy cause.

Lisa Dudley, has been diagnosed with BRAF Cancer and recently had her hair shaved off to raise funds towards research and for a bereavement charity.

My First Friends nursery has teamed up with Lisa to help support her wish in raising as much as she can, whilst she can.

Several activities, organised by the staff, have taken place recently and the nursery is hoping to reach its target of £300.

As well as the hear shave, the nursery's chef Stephen Morey kindly volunteered to have his chest waxed for sponsorship.

Rumours are no one was allowed within a foot of him afterwards, so he may have been feeling was feeling slightly tender.

Staff had cream pies thrown in their face by the youngsters, for a donation of 50p.

Some of the staff decided to do their own version of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here bush tucker trial, choosing to eat a variety of delicacies such as ants, worms and grubs, and various activities with regular food were held, included a cake sale, sweets sale and sausage and bacon sandwich sale to staff. The children also enjoyed a pyjama day involving pyjamas and slippers.

Nursery manager Claire Jones said: "Together we are all hoping to raise lots of money. Staff, parents and children have all been very supportive and Steve has been very brave having his chest waxed for this good cause.

"Lisa’s bravery is a great inspiration to us all."
