POLICE in Bromsgrove have discovered a cannabis factory, which is thought to contain more than £1million worth of the drug.

The discovery was made on Friday, January 29 when West Mercia Police executed a warrant on a property on the Buntsford Hill Business Park in the town.

Officers from the new Pan Worcestershire CID Priority Team alongside local Safer Neighbourhood Team and North Worcestershire CID intelligence officers attended the location and contained the premises whilst officers from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service helped them to gain rapid entry to the site.

Police Constable Alexander Denny, from the Pathfinder CID Priority team, said: “The production facility was on an industrial scale and consisted of over 10 separate rooms. Electricity supplies to the building had been diverted and the building was made safe by Western Power prior to the CID Priority team then searching the location, documenting the facility and seizing evidence.

More than 1,000 plants were found on the site at various stages of growth.

PC Denny added: “The estimated yield for the plants on the site is thought to be over £1 million. The production was professionally run and had clearly taken significant effort and expertise to set up.”

Two men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of production of cannabis, and they remain in custody awaiting trial.

PC Denny said: “This successful warrant will remove a significant sum of money from the criminal chain and help protect vulnerable persons in our communities from harm."
