NETWORK Rail have sent a letter to residents warning them about the night time improvement works taking place at Bromsgrove train station and the disturbance it may cause.
The work taking place from Saturday, February 6 to Saturday, February 27 between 10.55pm and 9.45am will include the use of cranes, rail mounted machines, generators, powered hand-tools, site lighting and rail road vehicles.
The letter reads: “The equipment we use means some disturbance is unavoidable, but we will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise. Furthermore, those working on site are briefed on working responsibly in the local community.”
The replacement of the old Bromsgrove station is part of a £100 million plan by Worcestershire County Council, Centro and Network Rail to provide better facilities and services to North Worcestershire.
Plans for the new station include four longer platforms, a footbridge, lifts, a 350 space car park and a bus interchange.
Other work taking place includes the electrification of the railway line between Barnt Green and Bromsgrove to allow for three additional trains services per hour between Bromsgrove and Birmingham.
The letter continues: “For safety reasons some of the work can only be completed when train services are not in operation and will subsequently need to be completed at night.”
