BURCOT Lodge Homeless Hostel, which houses up to eight homeless households, will be forced to close as plans to sell the former Council House go ahead.

Councillors discussed plans to replace the Bromsgrove hostel with alternative temporary accommodation at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, February 4.

The hostel is managed day to day by Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (BDHT) who will join discussions on the best way to replace Burcot Lodge hostel after it is demolished.

A spokesperson for Bromsgrove District Council said: “Helping people to live in their local area is one of our strategic purposes and we look forward to working with BDHT on future solutions which will meet local needs.”

It is unclear how long the hostel will remain available for use but council officers have already discussed and ruled out several possibilities for replacement with private providers over the last 18 months.
