A 35-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested and released on bail after a woman was sexually assaulted in a charity shop on New Road, Rubery.

West Mercia Police are still calling for any witnesses to the assault to come forward.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was attacked between 3.30pm and 4pm on Thursday, February 4.

The offender had been browsing in the store and when the store was empty he approached the woman and sexually assaulted her.

Following the incident, the offender left the store and is believed to have remained in the area on foot before getting into his vehicle, thought to be a blue Volkswagen Passat, and driving away.

He is described as white, with fair hair, about 6ft 1in tall and of a large build, wearing a red check shirt and dark blue jeans.

Police believe customers may have entered the store while the attack took place.

Officers are particually keen to speak to a male customer who came into the store following the incident and after hearing what happened left to pursue the offender.

It is thought the customer may have witnessed the victim shouting at the offender.

Investigating officer PC Simeon Darrall Jones said: "The man who entered the store immediately after the incident could have vital information that could help the investigation. It is important to stress that he is not a suspect but he could significantly help with our enquiries."
