WITH Valentine’s Day approaching, one Bromsgrove resident is asking people to wear their hearts on their sleeves and register to take part in the Worcester Heart Walk

Tim Hawkesworth from Bromsgrove is calling on local people to register online for the three mile walk, which will take place on Sunday, April 17 to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

Mr Hawkesworth, a volunteer with the Worcestershire BHF Fundraising Group, which is organising the event, said: “Over 60 people registered last year and raised over £3,700 for the charity which is a fantastic achievement. We are hoping to continue organising this event annually and still need support from local residents to help make it a success. We had a lot of support last year from people who knew others with a heart condition and it was a lovely atmosphere. I hope that people will show their heart is in the right place again and put their best foot forward in aid of the charity.

“The aim of the BHF Mending Broken Hearts Appeal is to raise enough money to fund the ground-breaking research that could help the heart to ‘heal itself’ and prevent thousands of people developing further heart problems. We all know someone who has been affected by heart disease, this is your opportunity to raise funds to support the research that can give them more hope for the future.”

The walk will be starting from Worcestershire County Cricket Club on New Road in Worcester, before following a circular route alongside the river on flat gravelled paths, and it should be suitable for all ages and abilities.

Adult advance entry is available until April 10 and is £5, after that date entry will cost £8 including on the day registrations. Children can enter free but must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. To guarantee a place, register online at bhf.org.uk/worcesterheartwalk or call 0121 6615161 for a registration form.
