DROITWICH Spa FC are hoping Midland Football League chiefs are sensible when it comes to arranging midweek clashes.

Spa will have to play extra matches in the week as their fixtures start to pile-up.

They saw Saturday’s Division Two top-of-the-table battle with Rostance Edwards called off due to a waterlogged pitch as rain decimated almost every weekend fixture in Worcestershire.

Spa have only played twice in 2016 and joint-manager Wayne Oliver admits they are preparing for a backlog.

He said: “We will have to play midweek games and I just hope that the league is sensible.

“I hope they are going to schedule games that aren’t a great distance away.

“If they schedule us at Alvis for a 6.30pm kick-off we’re going to struggle.

“But if they organise games against side with floodlights for a 7.45pm kick-off then that won’t be a problem.”

Spa will be hoping their Presidents’ Cup clash at Barnt Green on Saturday (3pm kick-off) goes ahead.

Green play at Highgate, who themselves have not played a home game since December 1.
