DELETE Blood Cancer UK is encouraging Bromsgrove residents to show some love and register as blood stem cell donors this Valentine’s Day and potentially save someone’s life.

There are currently 120 women and 56 men registered as blood stem cell donors in Bromsgrove, but there are still an estimated 1,800 blood cancer victims in the UK looking for a match to save their life this February.

Jenny Clegg, head of communications at Delete Blood Cancer UK, said: “You could find your perfect match in more ways than one in this Valentine’s Day. Registering online as a potential blood stem cell donor only takes a few minutes, but it could lead to you giving decades to someone else.”

The charity are particularly encouraging young men to sign up, as they are most likely to be chosen to donate.

Blood cancer makes it harder for sufferers to fight off infections or prevent serious bleeding and is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the UK.

To get involved, simply fill out an online form and you will be sent a cheek swab kit which can then be returned via freepost to complete your registration.
