PEOPLE in Bromsgrove are being called on to donate bag of items to help refugees living in the migrant camps in Calais and Dunkirk.

The group Bromsgrove Welcomes Refugees (BWR) is organising the appeal to support Malvern-based charity People in Motion which has been travelling to the camps to take clothing and food to refugees living in extreme circumstances.

BWR is holding a public meeting on Wednesday, February 17 from 8pm in the new Parkside Centre in Bromgrove, to give an update on how they are preparing for refugees in the town, but they will also be collecting bags of donated items to pass on to People in Motion for its next trip to France.

Items needed most in the bags include, blankets and sleeping bags, tents and camp beds, waterproofs, coats, hats and scarves, and warm clothing (although no wool). They also need cooking and eating equipment, win up torches, hot water bottles and bin bags.

The charity is also calling for food, and recommending people donate bags including easy cook rice, plain flour, tinned pulses, vegetables and fish, oil, vegetable stock cubes, sugar, dried dates and apricots, and tea and coffee.
