BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid paid tribute to inspirational Bromsgrove companies during his speech at the official opening of the London Stock Exchange this week.

Monday, February 22 marked the launch of the 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain report, which listed the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized enterprises in the UK – including two from Bromsgrove.

In his speech, Mr Javid said: “I wouldn’t be doing my job as a constituency MP if I didn’t highlight that there are two in Bromsgrove: Crown Domestic Appliances and Oakland International. So well done to everyone who has made it onto this year’s list but particularly those two!”

Mr Javid highlighted the commitment to innovation and investment demonstrated by these companies, placing emphasis on the rise in high quality apprenticeships.

Dean Attwell, Oakland International managing director, said: “Being recognised as an inspiring company is a welcome endorsement of the sustained growth that we have experienced as a family business, supported by a great team, loyal suppliers and fantastic customers.”

Oakland International is a multi-temperature storage and logistics business established in 1998 and situated in Beoley.

Also on the list, Crown Domestic appliances directors John and Doreen Graham said: “After being selected for the 2015 edition we were surprised and delighted to be included for the second successive year.

“Our inclusion is a tribute to the professionalism and hard work of all the staff at Crown.”
