MUMS at three West Midlands hospitals received a special Mother’s Day treat when a Bromsgrove-based charity and the current Miss Birmingham popped in to hand out cards and chocolates.

Charlotte and Richard Sharratt of the Libby Mae’s Little Angels charity for premature babies visited the Royal Hospital in Worcester and the Women’s Hospital and Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham to surprise mums on Sunday, March 6.

Mrs Sharratt said: “We know that mums in hospital while their baby is in a neonatal unit can feel lonely at this time of year with Mother’s Day and Easter around the corner and so wanted to remind them how special they are.”

The couple work tirelessly to raise funds for babies born prematurely or with complications following the tragic death of their own baby daughter in 2013.

“We distributed scores of boxes of chocolates thanks to help from Thorntons in Solihull and as a treat we took Molly Noke, the current Miss Birmingham, with us and it went down a storm with the parents. One moether was so delighted by our gesture that she gave us a £100 donation there and then,” added Mrs Sharratt.

The charity’s next venture will be a fundraising ball at the Mcdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham on Saturday, October 1.
