BROMSGROVE District Housing Trust (bdht) has been named as one of the UKs best medium sized workplaces by global research, consulting and training consultancy ‘Great Place to Work’.

bdht came seventh amongst organisations with between 50 and 499 employees, only entering the competition for the first time this year, and was recognised for its high trust, high engagement workplace culture.

Companies were judged by an employee survey, as well as an audit into their organisational management and HR practices, and bdht was commended for the strength of its leadership, and the range of innovative, creative and effective HR policies that it has put into place

Mike Brown, chief executive of bdht, said: “I am very honoured by this recognition. At bdht, we take pride in our culture, which is founded on the principles respecting the individual and liberating potential. We are passionate about the work that we do with the community and I am pleased to observe that each and every employee at bdht embodies this spirit.

“For us, employee satisfaction is not just measured in monetary rewards and career trajectories, but also in their happiness, welfare and general wellbeing. This is incredibly important in the fast-changing landscape where employee expectations are higher and staff loyalty has become a primary focus in the not-for-profit sector.”

Tom O’Byrne, CEO at Great Place to Work, added: “We are delighted to see bdht on our Best Workplaces list this year. It is a validation of the strength of their leadership and their commitment to creating the kind of culture where employees enjoy coming to work and want to do their best. The hallmark of a great workplace like bdht is that their policies and practices are designed around the employee. This employee-focused approach helps attract and retain the talents who are essential for driving and sustaining competitive performance.”
