THE Black Country looks set for a treat of a weekend for food and ale lovers at a new Bank Holiday event.

The Hagley and Old Hales Beer, Music and Food Festival is promising a huge variety of brews from around the region as well as further afield.

Festival organisers Sean Weir, owner of The Round Oak Inn in Wombourne, and Dean Cartwright, from the Pig Iron Brewery in Brierley Hill which has created a new ale for the event, say although beer is at the heart of the show there is plenty more going on to attract thousands of visitors.

Mr Weir said: “This festival is about bringing people and families together in a safe, friendly and vibrant environment to share a wonderful weekend celebrating the best in British beers, cuisine, fun, games and music.”

Mr Cartwright added: “”We’re delighted to be showcasing our local brew right here in our heartland and look forward to sharing centre stage with some of the best loved beers, ciders and perrys from around the Britain. Most of the region’s top selling brewers will be there and the choices even include some great specialist ales for those who are looking for gluten free.”

Street food is another big attraction for the three day festival which will run from Friday May 27 to Sunday Amy 29 at Hagley and Old Hales Rugby Club, Wassell Grove, Stourbridge.

Organisers have booked a wide range of food vendors ranging from Baked in Brick, who cook in the engine compartment of an old Mini car, to the Bournville Waffle Company and their converted Mustang caravan stall.

The local flavour will be extended with masses of choice from around the world including Caribbean chicken, lobster, seafood, scallops, mussels, giant fried dumplings, Hillbillys Grill Shack, Asian fusion plus Mexican and Thai specials.

Along with top live music and lots of other family attractions including craft tents, instrument making, fun fair, circus skills, face painting there will be instant relaxation with Indian head massage and reiki and crystal healing.
