ORGANISERS of Bromsgrove’s visiting Italian market are celebrating after a successful first visit to the town.

Italia in Piazza brought 16 stalls to Bromsgrove High Street and after some teething problems on Friday which meant only one stall could set up, they returned on Saturday with a full complement of stall holders selling everything from pasta, and soft nougat to olives and fresh bread.

Simon Faro, owner of Italia in Piazza which runs the market, said: “On Saturday we had all 16 stalls and it went very well indeed. It was our first visit to Bromsgrove, the weather forecast wasn’t that great, and the morning was relatively quiet, and then suddenly mid-morning to lunch time we suddenly got bombarded with people.”

Bromsgrove district councillor Margaret Sherrey, has recently taken over the portfolio for economic development, regeneration and the town centre, and with it the market project. She added: “Hopefully we’ll continue doing specialist markets. We’re working with leisure to try and organise something.”

Simon added: “We’ll definitely be back, we’re going to try and get another visit in before the end of the year, autumn, winter time. We only normally visit places once or twice a year. We travel pretty much most of the country every weekend.”
