BEAR Grylls’s gruelling reality TV show Mission Survive has been axed.

The show, which saw celebrities battle through the wilds on a survival expedition, will not be commissioned for another series.

The most recent series of Bear Grylls: Mission Survive saw stars including Coronation Street actress Michelle Collins and former England footballer and coach Stuart Pearce struggle through challenges set by Bear in the wilds of southern Africa, before Arsenal Ladies and England footballer Alex Scott won the 12-day mission.

JK Rowling’s alter ego Robert Galbraith has been shortlisted for a crime-writing prize.

Harry Potter author Rowling, who writes crime novels under the male pseudonym, has been nominated for Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year for her work Career Of Evil.

The book is the third novel in the Cormoran Strike series, which is being adapted for a new BBC television series. Strike is an injured war veteran-turned-private investigator working in contemporary London.

PHILIP Glenister has said he would like to resurrect his defining TV character DCI Gene Hunt.

The actor played the inspector in BBC One’s Life On Mars between 2006 and 2007 and then reprised the role in the sequel Ashes To Ashes from 2008 to 2010.

He told the Radio Times he would never rule out playing Gene again – and that he likes the idea of a big-screen adaptation of the series.

DAISY Ridley has definitely made her name this year – but it seems it has aged her.

The 24-year-old actress rocketed to stardom when she played Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Asked if she feels old, she told the Radio Times: “I feel like I aged a lot in the last year, and I’m re-finding my youth.”

CHRIS Evans has hit back after viewers slammed his Top Gear debut.

The revamped BBC Two show returned to TV screens on Sunday night with Chris and former Friends actor Matt LeBlanc at the helm.

Viewers were quick to criticise the motoring show on social media, with many of the comments referring to Chris’s “shouty” and “too excitable” hosting style. Fans also felt that he had tried – unsuccessfully – to imitate former frontman Jeremy Clarkson.

However, Chris has now taken to Twitter to defend the show, suggesting in a series of posts that he was satisfied with how the first episode went.
