A COMPANY restaurant in Wythall has won an award from Worcestershire Regulatory Services for making healthier choices.

The Phoenix Group, received the gold level Healthier Choices Food Award, for the locally sourced menus used in its onsite restaurant, which inspectors said went ‘above and beyond’ the requirement of the awards scheme.

County councillor Bronwen Behan, WRS Joint Committee chairman, said: “Phoenix Group is the first staff restaurant in the county to scoop the Healthier Choices Food Award.

“The awards are designed to encourage food businesses to provide more options for healthier balanced diets and with their huge salad bars, vending machines with healthier choices, and healthier dessert options like fruit and yoghurt Phoenix Group are certainly doing that. We congratulate them for providing their customers, in this case their employees, with lots of healthier options while they work.”

Nigel Biggs, catering team manager at Phoenix Group, added: “The team are delighted to have achieved the Healthier Choices Food Award (gold standard) in conjunction with Worcestershire Regulatory Services. Staff wellbeing is at the heart of Phoenix’s corporate responsibility agenda so it is important that our onsite restaurant offers choice including a range of healthier meal options. This combined with our other wellbeing activities on site, helps to keep staff fit and healthy at work.”
