AN award-winning farm in Hanbury is hosting a special afternoon for visitors to learn more about moths and butterflies.
Wild Hollowfields at Upper Hollowfields Farm will be welcoming in visitors for a walk led by Gert Corfield, who has surveyed the farm through an RSPB initiative to monitor wildlife on the site.
Gert will be beginning his walk by taking a look at some of the moths caught the previous evening, before releasing them, and then walking the farm to see which butterflies can be spotted.
Event organiser Jo Terry, said: “Gert’s enthusiasm is infectious and the fields are brimming with butterflies at this time of year, it promises to be a great afternoon.”
People taking part in the walk stand a good chance of seeing several types of butterfly and moth including the Marbled White, Brown Argus and Common Blue, while there may also be a chance to see the rarer Painted Lady, or the Brown Hairstreak.
To book a place on the walk, visit wildhollowfields.co.uk, call 01527 821461 or write to josephine.z@btopenworld.com. Tickets are £5 per person, which will be donated to the charity Butterfly Conservation. Light refreshments will also be provided, and organisers have said that booking is essential.
