A BROMSGROVE-based fleet management company has entered a team for karting championship to raise money for a care leavers’ charity.

Agility Fleet, which is based in Stoke Prior will be taking part in the 24-hour European round of the Teeside Karting Championship in a bid to raise £15,000 for the Rees Foundation.

The challenge will see a team of five people taking on 24 hours of karting over the weekend from Saturday, July 15 to Sunday, July 16 at the ‘Circuit du Alain Prost’ in the heart of racing hub Le Mans.

Keith Townsend, managing director of Agility Fleet, said: “As my greatest passions include four wheels and speed, I jumped at the opportunity to combine these with supporting a great charity. The Rees Foundation does some wonderful work but doesn’t get as much publicity as some of the other well-known charities. By competing in this popular championship we are hoping to help change that.

“The event is a real test of endurance, with each driver completing several two hour stints behind the wheel. We expect to cover around 1,000 miles at race speed in weather conditions that may vary from pouring rain throughout the night to 30-degree sunshine in the daytime. That’s the equivalent of driving from Land’s End to John o’ Groats and back to Glasgow again all in a go kart.”

So far the Agility Fleet has raised £6,00 towards its goal for the Rees Foundation, which supports young people and adults who’ve experience foster care or residential care, making sure they can access the support they need to help them achieve their potential.
