ANYONE visiting Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold this Saturday is set for a treat as they will be able to watch some of the country's finest firefighters going through their paces.

The firefighters will be showcasing their talents as they confront a couple of rescue challenges as part of a national competition.

A total of 12 firefighting teams from across the country will be taking part in the Road Traffic Collision Challenge.

Another nine teams will also be taking part in the Trauma Challenge.

The winner of each category will then go forward to compete in the National UKRO Challenge which takes place in Hampshire during September.

Teams entering the Trauma Challenge will be faced with a selection of trauma incidents where they will be expected to identify and treat the injuries found.

Those competing in the Road Traffic Collision Challenge will be given 20 minutes to safely free trapped casualties from a simulated road traffic accident.

Watching crowds will be able to witness at close range some of the lifesaving skills of local firefighters who will be competing at Webbs from 9am until 5pm.

Ed Webb, chairman of Webbs, said: "It's a privilege to be able to see the firefighters' skill and hard work at such close quarters and to get an idea of what they face every day.

"The service have held their events here in previous years and we are delighted to welcome them back."
