A REDNAL woman died as a result of multiple injuries sustained when her car was in a collision with a lorry on the A38 in February an inquest has heard.

The inquest at Worcestershire Coroner’s Court was told that 33-year-old Layanthi Pushpakumari, of Longwood Road in Rednal, had been travelling along the A38 between Rubery and Lydiate Ash, as a passenger in a blue Ford Focus on February 5, when the car left the carriageway, and collided with a stationary lorry in Spring Pools layby.

Mrs Pushpakumari was confirmed dead at the scene, while a man in his 20s who was in the car with her, was initially trapped with several serious injuries, before being taken to the major trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment. The driver of the lorry was not injured.
