STAFF at David Lloyd Fitness in Bromsgrove have raised £500 as part of an action-packed family fun day earlier this month to raise awareness for blood donation.

NHS staff came along to the club with their screening unit to find out the blood type of members and local residents who visited for the event, while staff dressed as superheroes, and member David Watson, who suffered devastating injuries after treading on a mine in Afghanistan, came in to talk about his experiences before, during, and after his time in the Armed Forces.

The day also involved a family disco, face painting, a magic show, a puppet show, and a number of fundraising activities for NHS Blood Donation.

Any visitors who visited for the fun day and had their blood tested, was also given a seven day guest pass for the club’s facilities.

The club’s general manger Stuart Cashmore, said: “This event was something we wanted to do after being truly inspired by our amazing member, David. He has highlighted the need for an increase in blood donation, particularly those that are a rare type. The day was an incredibly fun way to raise key funding for the NHS. I’d urge anyone that couldn’t make the event to have a screening and possible help save lives.”
