A LEGAL action aimed at overturning the Labour Party's decision to guarantee Jeremy Corbyn a place on the leadership ballot is due to get under way.

Labour donor Michael Foster, a former parliamentary candidate, is bringing the claim at London's High Court against the party's general secretary Iain McNicol, who is being sued in a representative capacity, and Mr Corbyn.

The case, to be heard on Tuesday by Mr Justice Foskett, follows the decision of Labour's National Executive Committee (NEC) that the incumbent leader should automatically be included in the contest.

The mother of a Briton accused of trying to kill Donald Trump has pleaded for her son's return to the UK after he was placed on suicide watch in prison.

Lynne Sandford said she would not abandon her son Michael and a crowdfunding campaign was being launched to seek support for his legal costs in the US.

Her son, 20, allegedly tried to snatch an officer's weapon during a rally at a Las Vegas casino on June 18, later telling officials that his plan was "to shoot and kill Donald Trump".

Ex-BHS boss Sir Philip Green has insisted he is "trying to find a solution" for the collapsed firm's pension fund and apologised to staff caught up in the "horrid story".
