OMBERSLEY chairman Tim Oakley blamed their recent poor form on their inability to field their strongest side.

They slipped to a six-wicket defeat to Knowle and Dorridge on Saturday and have not won since June 11.

After being put into bat Ombersley made 231-6 in 55 overs, despite 81 runs by Uday Kaul. There were wickets for Jack Grundy (2-70) and Beau Webster (2-35).

Knowle and Dorridge made 232-4 in reply thanks to Webster (26), Alex Phillips (56), Grundy (55) and Sam Reddish (86) .

Ombersley have struggled with consistency in selection and have missed in-form county pair Brett D’Oliveira and Gareth Andrew.

D’Oliveira has been in fine form for Worcestershire and has been called up for England Lions and is currently involved in the series against Pakistan A.

Meanwhile, Andrew has earned a deal to play for Hampshire.

Oakley said: “It’s been the same problem we’ve had for weeks where we’ve had no consistency of selection.

“It makes it difficult to get into a rhythm and at the moment we’re missing catches we’d normally take.”

Ombersley tackle Walsall at home on Saturday (noon start) and are without captain Arti Fiaz, who misses his first game in six years.
