TRAFFIC has eased and all lanes have been reopened on the M5 between junctions 5 and 4a, after five cars crashed near Bromsgrove.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene of the crash just after midday but, fortunately, no one had been injured.

Highways officers removed the vehicles from the motorway, but lanes remained closed until around 2.15pm while a fuel spillage was cleared from the road.

Drivers reported traffic being at a standstill, with cars "bumper to bumper" back to Droitwich at 1.30pm.

Congestion remained between J4a and J11 until after 3pm, and the effects of the crash could be felt throughout Bromsgrove, with one driver desribing the A38 as a "car park".

Traffic has now eased and Highways England have thanked drivers for their patience.
