FRIENDS of seriously ill critical care nurse Rachel Carrack whose family is fundraising for her to receive specialist cancer treatment in Germany are calling on the community to support her by posting bright photographs on social media.

Angela Hadwen, from Guiseley, and Natalie Ross, who now lives in York, are asking people to post a photograph on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and any social media they chose of themselves wearing bright clothing, jewellery or lipstick.

"Rachel is going to have treatment very soon and we want to support her by wearing bright things and posting pictures on social media. We hope people will do the same and share photos," said Ms Ross.

Mrs Carrack's family launched a GoFundMe page to raise £60,000 for her to go to a specialist clinic in Hallwang, Germany, for the treatment which is not yet available on the NHS.

Her parents are putting a further £60,000, the last of their savings, into the fund.

Donations, many given anonymously, have reached almost £42,000 in 16 days.
