POLICE are reminding people to be vigilant after a Bromsgrove woman received a letter saying she had won a substantial amount of money in the Spanish lottery.
The letter asked the woman to ring through her bank details and other personal information to claim the 985,000 Euros that they said she had won.
The woman knew she had never entered the lottery and so reported the matter to the police.
A police spokesman said: "The woman was concerned that other people receiving such letters might not recognise it as the scam it is. Our advice is to never give out personal details or bank details and to be suspicious if you are told you have won a prize in any sort of competition or lottery."
