THE next chance to get advice on keeping warm and saving money this winter is coming up next week.

Anyone that missed November's event in Rubery Library can visit the next 'winter warmer' drop-in event on Wednesday, December 7 at Bromsgrove Library.

According to Bromsgrove District Council, some residents have already saved more than £200 a year by switching energy suppliers at the events.

Residents can also pick up a free smoke alarm or energy monitor.

Several organisations will be on hand between 9.30am and 1pm on Wednesday, to give advice on Bromsgrove Energy Efficiency Fund, grants for repairs and adaptations, home energy and fire safety checks.

Representatives from AgeUK, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Act on Energy, Care and Repair, NEW Lifeline and Severn Trent Water are all set to be at the event.

Cllr Kit Taylor, whose portfolio includes housing, said: "You can learn some useful tips at these events, for things that you may not have realised were easy ways you could keep warm and save money. You might be eligible for more than you thought.”

Anyone wanting help with switching energy suppliers at Wednesday's drop-in session is asked to bring an energy bill.
