IT would be regarded an unusual addition to any college uniform, but Bradford College students are thrilled with their recent donation of body armour for those seeking jobs in uniformed services.

SafeGuard Clothing has gifted the college a bulletproof vest for use by students on Public Services courses.

It means students can get familiar with the life-saving equipment they may be using in their future careers in the police, fire, prison or ambulance service or the military.

Hayley Lomas, of Bradford College, said: “The state-of-the-art vest will really enhance the learning experience of our students.

“It means students can gain practical experience of handling body armour and improve their understanding of the crucial role it plays in helping keep public servants safe in the line of duty.

“This is a very generous donation from Safeguard for which we are very grateful.”

SafeGuard Clothing’s Thomas Bowman said: “Providing samples of our bulletproof vests helps students understand how protection against knives and guns actually works and gives them a unique advantage that will benefit them later in their careers.”

Bradford College runs public services courses at a variety of levels, from entry level up to degree level with BTEC Awards and Diplomas in between.
