GUSTS of up to 60mph are expected across Worcestershire throughout Thursday, the Met Office has warned.

Very strong winds are expected across the county which could cause disruption to travel and damage buildings.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Worcestershire from 6am to 6pm.

Gusts of 50 to 60mph are expected widely across the warning area.

However, a small swathe of even stronger winds may develop nationally - most likely across parts of northern England, northern Wales and the north Midlands.

Heavy rain is also likely through Thursday along with some snow over high ground.

The Met Office's chief forecaster said: "A developing area of low pressure is expected to move across the UK on Thursday.

"A period of very strong winds are likely across the warning area with some disruption expected.

"However a small swathe of very strong winds could cause more widespread disruption across part of the warning area, which is covered by a separate amber warning."
