BIZARRE footage has captured the moment a man was mauled by a badger, as he attempted to pick up the angry animal at a barbecue in Alvechurch.

The man, who is named as a party-goer called Mark, was encouraged by a crowd to pick the wild animal up, as they egged him on and shouted “can we see the badger”.

As he picked the animal up and held it in the air, the badger clamped its jaws on his fingers and refused to let go – despite him shaking his hand back and forth as he screamed in pain.

Charlotte Reynolds, 26, who was at the barbecue and captured the incident on her phone, said the victim went for a TB and tetanus jab but thankfully didn't need stitches.

The critical nurse from Bromsgrove added: "I was at the BBQ and I was sitting with my friend and a farmer turned up holding a badger.

"It was a bit weird and very random.

"I shouted 'can we see the badger' and he held it up and it bit him.

"Somehow I managed to get it on film and all the screaming.

"I didn't even remember it the next day.

"I had quite a bit to drink and we had been drinking all day.

"My friend mentioned 'the badger' the next day, and I was like 'what?' and she said 'check your Snapchat'.

"I had put the video on there.

"I remember now going and asking him if he was ok and he was ok - but his finger was bleeding.

"The video is the only real evidence that a badger turned up to the party. It's a bit weird."

The barbecue was hosted by Charlotte’s friend in Alvechurch last Saturday (April 8).
