BOURNEHEATH businessman Andrew Hewston raised more than £3,000 for charity in Sunday’s London Marathon.

The 43-year-old, who owns Bumble Hole Foods Ltd, traded in his office desk for a pair of sneakers to take on the 26.2-mile challenge.

Mr Hewston raised money for Primrose Hospice and Parkinson’s UK.

Parkinson’s UK has been a great support to Andrew and his family after his dad David was diagnosed with the brain condition three years ago at the age of 70.

He said: “The marathon was an unbelievable experience. My time was 3 hours 53 minutes, which I was pleased with considering how busy the race was.

“Running under Tower Bridge, around the landmarks and to have thousands of strangers calling out your name was something I will never forget.

“The support and noise around London was fantastic, and I would high recommend anyone who can run to take part at some stage of their lives.

“Not only is it an unforgettable personal experience, it raises so much money for so many good causes. I have already raised over £3,000 in part for Bromsgrove’s Primrose Hospice which I know will help the local community.”

Fellow businessman Matthew Greaves, 43, of Sidemoor, who owns Bromsgrove Body Repairs on Harris Business Park, also raised £3,000 for Primrose Hospice and ran a personal best of 3 hours 48 minutes
