London Marathon runners are selling their finishers’ medals for almost £100 online.

Hours after completing Sunday’s gruelling 26.2-mile course, some of the runners put their coveted medals on auction site eBay, with one attracting bids of almost £92.

As well as the medals, which hang from a red ribbon and feature an embossed London skyline, other marathon memorabilia such as T-shirts, branded pens and even a plastic bag marking the 37th annual event are also being flogged.

Manchester United could sponsor the M6 motorway, according to a proposal to generate funds for investment in roads.

Sports teams, supermarkets and tech firms are among the companies who could purchase the naming rights of major roads under a Road Miles concept.

The plan outlines the potential establishment of the Manchester United M6, the Morrisons M1, the Microsoft M4 and the Adidas A1.

It is part of a submission that has been shortlisted for the £250,000 Wolfson economics prize to reduce traffic jams.

An obsessed soldier who stalked then murdered his ex girlfriend by slashing her neck in an act of “utter barbarism” has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years.

Lance Corporal Trimaan “Harry” Dhillon broke into Alice Ruggles’ Gateshead flat last October and cut her throat from ear to ear after he found out she had found happiness with another man.

The 26-year-old had driven 120 miles from his barracks near Edinburgh to confront Miss Ruggles and grabbed a long, sharp carving knife cutting through to her spine.
