BROMSGROVE District Council has been named 'council of the year' by a West Midlands energy efficiency awards.
Judges at the Regional Energy Efficiency and Healthy Homes Awards commended Bromsgrove for its work helping residents to improve their home heating and insulation.
The council also took runner-up in the 'vulnerable customer support campaigner' category. at the ceremony on Wednesday, May 10.
The awards are designed to publicly recognise the work of the energy efficiency sector to reduce bills and encourage best practice, in line with national policy.
Kath Manning, climate change and energy support officer at Bromsgrove council, said: "We’re delighted to be recognised for helping homeowners reduce their energy bills, tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions."
Residents can get help installing cheaper heating systems and insulating their lofts from the Bromsgrove Energy Efficiency Fund, designed for household incomes under the Worcestershire average of £37,000 a year.
Applicants may be eligible for £500 towards the cost of replacing an old boiler and those on lower incomes could receive more.
