AN APPEAL for witnesses has been launched after a man was hit by a car while walking his dog in Hollywood - which resulted in his pet having to be put down.

The incident involved a man in his 50s, who was walking his dog, and an unknown silver vehicle which did not stop.

The pedestrian received injuries to his foot and his dog had to be put to sleep after receiving serious injuries.

West Mercia Police is appealing for information on the incident, which took place on the Alcester Road at around 6:04pm on Friday, May 12.

A spokesman said: "Investigations are ongoing, but police are keen to speak to anybody who may have witnessed the incident or who may have been in the area at the time.

"Should you have any information, please call 101 quoting incident 596S of 12 May."
