A NATIONAL organisation, which promotes safety awareness and resilience to vulnerable people, has launched a new centre in Redditch.

Protective Behaviours Consortium CIC (PBC), based in Birmingham, has opened the new centre at Inspire Community Training & Development in Winyates.

The organisation, which offers a large range of vocational courses, with accredited qualifications and non-accredited recreational courses, becomes PBC’s fifth national base.

Protective Behaviours is a life changing approach to improving personal safety and promoting wellbeing.

The Protective Behaviours process goes back 40 years and is seen as a preventative and protective approach to tackling mental health concerns and personal safety, thus improving personal skills, confidence, employability and resilience.

Headed by Karen Martin, the new base will promote Protective Behaviours across Worcestershire, in line with DfE recognition, as an effective approach in improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in schools.

Inspire will be offering the accredited PBC Foundation Level Protective Behaviours Course to professionals, as well as offering Protective Behaviours courses to the local community, such as the PBC Confident Me! Course, enabling learners to achieve an award in employability and skills

development qualification.

Karen Martin said: "We are very excited at Inspire to add the delivery of Protective Behaviours to our range of courses and support services.

"Protective Behaviours fits perfectly with our health and wellbeing ethos, enabling us to be fully inclusive and reach more of the community."
