THE husband of a Bromsgrove woman who planned to host a charity festival before she died aims to raise thousands of pounds by holding the event in her memory.

Dave Morgan launched Orchard Fest last year in memory of his wife Trish, who sadly passed away from a brain tumour in January 2011 at the age of 53.

Mr Morgan, 60, of Aston Fields, is holding the festival for a second year on Saturday, June 24, and aims to raise £10,000 for Primrose Hospice and St Richard’s Hospice to thank them for the support they have given to his family.

He said: “This was Trish’s idea before she died. She was a bit of a party girl and she was so grateful for what Primrose did so she wanted to help them back.

“It has taken me six years to get this going so last year was very special to me.

“My family and I have been very appreciative of what Primrose did and last year we raised £6,000 for them.

“People do not know when this sort of thing is going to happen to them and they do not realise that these places need help.”

The event, which has been organised by Dave and his family – including daughter Samantha, 33, and Hara, 27 – includes live bands, a bouncy castle and dancers.

It will also include a pig roast and a bar, while a special Primrose Ale has been produced by Dave’s close-friend Mel Langford, of Worcester-based Loyal City Brewery.

Primrose Hospice fundraising manager Emma Williams said: “Orchard Fest is a great event.

“Last year it was a huge success and raised around £6,000 for us at the Hospice which is a huge amount of money for which we are truly grateful for.”

The event takes place at Puddle Wharf Farm on Redditch Road, Bromsgrove, on Saturday, June 24, from 1pm to 11pm.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children, with camping on site available for £10, and parking available for free.

Entry is by wristband only. Tickets can be purchased from Karen on 07912074509 or Del on 07710324777.
