WITH just days to go until Bromsgrove Carnival, organisers are giving residents a sneak preview of what to expect at Saturday's fairytale-themed celebration.

The carnival will kick off in Sanders Park on Saturday, July 1 at 1.30pm, after the much-anticipated town parade, featuring lorry floats for the first time in 12 years.

The grand parade, following the theme of 'Once Upon a Time', will set off from North Bromsgrove High at 12pm, passing the strand at 12.15pm and Asda at 12.45pm.

It is expected to turn onto Kidderminster Road around 1.10pm before coming to a halt at Sanders Park.

The park is set to be filled with stalls, hosted by local traders, clubs, small businesses and charities, with raffles and games for visitors to take part in. A funfair will also be open in the park from Friday to Sunday.

Gala performances will begin at 2pm on Saturday, including live music and dance groups until 7pm.

The outdoor cinema is back by popular demand, with the film - rumoured to be screening either La La Land or Mama Mia - set to start at sunset (9.30pm).

Organisers have also promised a Prosecco bar and Prosecco bicycle, which will be providing refreshments alongside an array of food stalls.

The popular Timberhonger 10k will be accompanied this year by the Children's Challenge, with up to 650 runners expected to take part.

Carnival-goers will welcome racers as they reach the finish line, where all entrants will receive a specially-commissioned new-design medal.

All profits will be donated to Bromsgrove charities Primrose Hospice, The Basement Project, Libby Mae's Little Angels and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
