ONE year on from the Brexit vote and Bromsgrove campaigners are still protesting Britain's decision to leave the EU.

Members of Worcestershire for Europe attended a vigil outside Downing Street for the anniversary on June 23, carrying banners and handmade giant puppets of pro-Brexit politicians.

Others took the 200-strong group's message to Europe, unveiling a giant EU flag on a cross-channel ferry.

Meanwhile in Worcestershire, protesters held a 'Picnic for Europe' in Worcester's Belgian-named Gheluvelt Park, to discuss plans for future campaigns.

A spokesman for the group said: "What struck us this weekend was there was a wonderful celebration of the European Union and total silence from those who voted for Brexit.

"There is a real sense that the tide of opinion in the UK is changing and people are waking up to the fact that we are wealthier, safer and stronger in the union that has brought us 70 years of peace.

"At Worcestershire for Europe, we accept that a narrow majority voted for Brexit last summer, but in the words of David Davis, 'a democracy is not a democracy unless it can change its mind'."
