MORE than £5,000 was raised for the Primrose Hospice as visitors flocked to its annual Summer Fete to soak up family fun and entertainment.

BBC presenter Joanne Malin opened the event on Saturday, July 15, as residents enjoyed live music, food, dancing, and games, despite the initial rainy weather.

Hospice fundraising manager Emma Williams said: “We would like to say thank you to everyone that came along to support us at our fete, including the craft stalls, entertainment and of course a huge thank you to our visitors, volunteers and to Joanne Malin for opening the event.

“We very much welcome visitors to the hospice at all times as we want to show them what Primrose Hospice is all about so we are overwhelmed with the number of people that came along to see and support us.”

Music was provided by Primrose Choir, Helen Pearson, Keith Judson, and Lickey End First School, with dancing from Stage Door Dance Academy and Bromsgrove School of Dance.

Children’s activities included a bouncy castle, magic from local duo Charlie and Luke, and traditional games such as hook the duck and a tombola.

A display of classic cars, as well as food and drink ranging from cakes, ice cream, pork baps, to Pimms and Prosecco, was also on show.

The hospice, based on St Godwald’s Road in Bromsgrove, offers care and support to patients living with life limiting illnesses and their families in north east Worcestershire.

It currently costs over £1.6 million per year to run all the hospice services, with just 20 per cent of funding coming from Redditch and Bromsgrove CCG.
